Pink Unity Lubricant Review for Fascinations

I have moved sites. Click here to read this review at elodieonlove.com.

Lubricant is a simple product, but one that many people sadly never think about using. I don't use it every time, but I go through enough that I was all too happy to review Pink Unity for Fascinations. Unfortunately, K and I won't be using this lubricant again even if we run out of our other lubricants and there's a worldwide lubricant shortage in the future.

Pink Unity, by Empowered Products Inc., is a hybrid silicone/water-based lubricant. The ingredients are as follows: propylene glycol, water, cyclopentasiloxane, butylene glycol, dimethicone/vinyl dimethicone crosspolymer, hydroxyethyl acrylate/sodium acryloyldimethyl taurate copolymer. It's glycerin-free and doesn't smell like anything. Why would one want a hybrid silicone-water lubricant? I didn't know before trying this product, and after using it I still don't know.

Yes, Pink Unity does not stain. Enough of it washes away with water to make it useless in the bathtub, but not enough to completely clean the tacky residue it leaves off a toy -- you need soap for that. It took scrubbing with soap and water to get it off myself after vaginal sex with my partner as well. Not only that, but I could still feel it the next day.

This gel isn't runny, but it's thin. We needed to use more than three full squirts to do any good, unlike the one small squirt we use of our beloved Maximus water-based lubricant. We only used Pink Unity for vaginal sex; I don't want to think about how much would be necessary for anal use. Even using as much as we did, it didn't make things as comfortable as our normal lube does. It did, however, make things more slippery, creating less friction and less pleasure. I didn't enjoy it much, and K says, "it didn't feel good at all."

Alone, I tried this lube with a small (one-inch diameter), firm plastic sex toy, and even after slathering three full pumps of lubricant onto it, I still had problems inserting the toy. As for thrusting, it was painful. This has never happened to me before with this toy and any other lubricant. I tested it on my Tantus, Ophoria, and Happy Valley silicone toys, and it didn't melt any of them, but you should always do a patch test of your own before using a lubricant with silicone on a silicone toy.

I found Pink Unity acceptable for precisely one thing: clitoral masturbation with a hand. It felt pleasantly silky. But for vibration or insertion, forget it. Also, even if you only use it for clitoral masturbation, it will take a while to come off. I actually find it more difficult to completely wash off than my normal silicone lubricant.

When I took a picture of the Pink Unity bottle with Reyna, she removed the cap and started playing with it. So the cap is easily removable by cat. However, the lube isn't easy to get out of the bottle. We had to pump a few times to get it to start squirting. It's a nicely-shaped, sturdy bottle, though.

If you happen to be sensitive to glycerin, you like thin, slippery lube, and you only want lube for dry-land clitoral masturbation using a hand and nothing else, then maybe you'll like Pink Unity. I recommend everyone else get another lubricant. My favorite is Maximus, and I like Wet Naturals Silicone for use in the tub.

Thank you, Fascinations, for sending me this lubricant to review. Fascinations has a large selection of personal lubricants for most tastes, as well as lots of sex toys, and they're a great company, so go check them out.

Beautiful men

I have changed sites. Click here to read this post at elodieonlove.com.

After having been in the sex blogging community for a little while, something that only bothered me a bit at first has started to seriously grate. There are pictures everywhere in the sex-positive community of lovely women of many sizes, and in many positions. Not of many ages, nor of many colors -- a big problem -- but still, women.

WHERE ARE THE MEN.

I find women aesthetically pleasing, but they don't do the first thing for me sexually. (With the possible exception of Kate Winslet.) I'm straight as a plank. I love men -- fat men, thin men, men of different ages, different colors.

What I want: men photographed, or painted, all by themselves, sexually. Show me bound men. Men in leather pants. Men with whips. Men smiling flirtatiously. Men happily erect. Men are sexually desirable, they are beautiful, they are hot.

I'm going to try, on my blog, to redress the balance a teeny bit. I'll semi-regularly post pictures of gorgeous men. I shall start with my favorite captain -- yes, it's Jean-Luc Picard of the USS Enterprise. Patrick Stewart.

Babeland Review: Pirates Pendant Vibe

I have moved sites. Click here to read my Pirates Pendant Vibe review for Babeland at elodieonlove.com.

You can have Johnny Depp. My favorite pirate is Kevin Kline in Gilbert and Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance. I hoped that the Pirates Pendant Vibe which Babeland sent me to review would make me feel like a Pirate Queen. Alas, it was not to be, and I ended up feeling more like a female Frederic.

The Pirates Pendant Vibe is a merchandising tie-in with the popular series of Pirates movies. It's 2 1/4 inches in length and 3/4 inches in width, with a pointed tip for pinpoint stimulation, and runs on three watch batteries. This vibe is made of ABS Plastic, which is phthalate-free and easy to care for. Since it's splashproof, you can wash it with soap and water, and the plastic can be disinfected with a 10% bleach solution. The box claims the vibe is velvety, but the shiny versions, like my silver one, have a hard plastic texture. Skulls, crossbones, and other raised images decorate the vibe, but don't add much to stimulation. I only use the Pirates Pendant Vibe clitorally; it's too small to do anything for me vaginally.

The vibrator has 5 patterns, controlled by a pushbutton at the top through which a necklace chain runs. The vibrations are as follows:
1) Very light continual buzz. It's good for teasing, but not much else.
2) Stronger continual buzz. I wasn't able to use it for long because it hurt me, but that doesn't mean it's hugely strong. Super-fast surface vibes always cause me pain.
3) Evenly spaced medium-strength buzz. It nearly matches the beat of Pink's Stupid Girls. This is my favorite.
4) Fast, evenly spaced medium-strength buzz. I switch to this one to finish the job.
5) Jingle Bells. Buzz-buzz-BUZZZZ-buzz-buzz-BUZZZZ. It feels nice enough, and would probably feel better if it didn't make me think of a one-horse open sleigh.

I like that this vibrator has multiple patterns, but here's the problem: it doesn't always get me off. And if it doesn't always get me off, there is no way I can recommend it to get anyone else off. I almost never have problems orgasming -- my hand is plenty. As a pleasurable teaser, the Pirates Pendant Vibe works. But you can get way more vibe for the same price or less.

Still, the point of this toy isn't just that it's a vibrator, it's that it's a vibrator that's also a necklace, right? That depends on your taste in jewelry, and your willingness to have people realize you're wearing a vibrator around your neck. Plenty of people will think you're wearing a large, strangely-shaped pendant, but others will be able to tell you've got a bullet vibrator between your breasts. There are also black letters and symbols printed on the top of the vibe; someone would have to get close to you to see these, but for me, knowing they're there kills any desire I might have had to wear this as jewelry.

The Pirates Pendant Vibe feels good, though not amazing, and if you're a fan of the two Pirates movies, it would make a fun keepsake. Unfortunately, since it's not waterproof, you'll have to buckle your swash on dry land like some landlubber. And if you're really sensitive, more sensitive than me, which takes a lot, then perhaps this vibe could be just what you're looking for.

As for me, I'll be searching for my yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum elsewhere.

Sexually submissive

I've changed sites. Click here to read this post at elodieonlove.com.

Brilliant post title, huh? OK, I suck at titles. But this has been rattling around in my brain for a while, and I can't seem to write anything else until I get it out.

Very recently -- within the past month -- I've discovered that I'm sexually submissive. "Discovered" is perhaps the wrong term; it's more like recognizing something that was always there, but I never really saw. Like suddenly realizing the rosebush on the way to work bears red flowers, when you always thought of them as pink. Or looking at a guy who you've been "just friends" with for a long time, to whom you were never attracted, and wanting to kiss him.

I've always liked a bit of roleplayed submission. I liked roleplayed dominance too -- not nearly as much, but it wasn't something I let myself think about. After all, I'm a feminist, and feminists need to be in charge of their sex lives all the time, right? Certainly not let some man tell them what to do. Certainly not WANT to let some man tell them what to do. And, of all things, not want to give sexual power over them to some man.

Well, I didn't want "some man" to have sexual power over me. I never trusted anyone enough to even think about it. Then I met K. We moved in together over four years ago, but thanks to stressful life circumstances, personal demons, and my near-dead sex drive, our sex life was pretty much nonexistent for a long time. I still don't know why he stuck around for so long. But when I went off the pill last year, after he got a vasectomy, things started to change. My sex drive started to return, stronger than ever. I was happy, K was thrilled, everything seemed to be working out.

I got into sex toys, and looked at bondage gear on sex toy sites. Restraints and blindfolds appealed to me: the light bondage stuff that doesn't really bother most people. For some reason, I kept going back to floggers. "That's not me," I'd think. "I'm just curious." I would read reviews of them, and I finally admitted: I didn't want to wield them, I wanted them wielded on me. Specifically, I wanted K to wield them on me. It wasn't about the pain, though I found that I enjoyed that too, it was about giving him power over me. Luckily, he's dominant -- something he kept from me for a long time, afraid I'd condemn him for it.

That was it. Since then, I've known who I am. My sexual imagination has been released. I'm not submissive except sexually, and I still like roleplaying the top sometimes, but it's just roleplaying. It doesn't go to my core like submission does.

I'm sure I'll write more about this later, but right now, K wants me to come to bed.

Babeland Review: Heart 2 Heart Cuffs

I've moved sites. Click here to read my Heart 2 Heart Cuffs review for Babeland at elodieonlove.com.

K and I only recently got into bondage, and we've been loving it. So when Babeland offered the Heart 2 Heart Cuffs for review, I grabbed them. Made of sturdy and attractive red and black leather, they're a definite upgrade from the cuffs that came with our Sportsheets Under the Bed Restraint System.

These Heart 2 Heart wrist cuffs measure about 2 3/8 inches wide, and will fit 6 to 9 inch circumference wrists. They could technically be worn on teeny ankles, but they're not big enough to recommend as ankle cuffs. To fit my boyfriend's wrists, they need to be buckled through the last hole out of seven. When I wear them (pictured), they're buckled through the second-to-last hole. If you have large wrists, measure before choosing these cuffs.
Each cuff is made of red and black leather, fastened together with a series of metal studs. These studs go all the way through the leather and touch the skin, but cannot be felt when worn. The leather feels soft and a touch like suede against the skin, making the cuffs comfortable to wear for quite a while. I start itching once I've been wearing the cuffs for over an hour, though, so if you have sensitive skin like me, they are not the best choice for extended wear. They're very sexy on both women and men, and K particularly likes how they look on me.

These cuffs can take quite a bit of punishment. I asked K to try to tear them with his hands, and he didn't mar them at all. We didn't risk testing if he could pull the red leather off the black using his full strength, but I tried to and couldn't. The D-ring and buckles are completely secure; when these cuffs are attached to each other or something else using connectors, you won't be escaping through brute strength. You can finagle your way out of them if you can reach the connectors or buckles with your fingers, though, which makes these cuffs good for beginners and others who want light to medium restraint. Unfortunately, the cuffs don't come with a connector. We pillaged our Sportsheets Restraint System for that purpose, but if you don't have connectors, locks or rope, you'll need to buy some with the cuffs, or improvise.

Overall, the Heart 2 Heart cuffs are a great choice for anyone looking to step up from cheap velcro cuffs. They work, they're comfortable, they're durable, and they're sexy.

You can get the Heart 2 Heart cuffs, and other kinky, sensual and fun adult products, at Babeland, a great sex-positive, woman-friendly store. While you're there, check out Babeland's Goodie Bags, filled with essentials like lube and condoms. Until the end of 2010, for every Goodie Bag purchased, Babeland will donate $2 to a GLBT cause.

Thank you, Babeland, for sending me the Heart 2 Heart cuffs to review.
